Football Season Preview

The Normandy football team has high expectations going into the 2024 season. They return a 4-year starter at QB in Elijah Gray. Elijah is a special player who was the Offensive MVP of the conference last season. Up front they have from left to right starting on the offensive line a hungry and physical group. Jason Nicholson, James Moore, Mason Konarzewski, Brett Szelenyi, Dallas Ward, and Josh Kons. The Upback is a very tenacious sophomore in Fernando Acevedo. The WR group is extremely quick and agile and stars Austin Simmons, DQ Bradley, Nick Williams, Ray Brown, and Mario Rodriguez.
On defense, Defensive Coordinator Rob Cyr has all kinds of weapons. Up front they are led by Ray Brown, Brady Luethjohn, and Jai Hebebrand among a host of others. At linebacker they return Caleb Doubrava and Anthony Mastrobuono, and newcomer Ethan Gold, who has been a stud all camp. Normandy deploys 5 defensive backs and they haven't given up a point all pre-season. They are led by Dom Wrege, Cameron Hayden, Jahmaari Bullock, and Sean Nixon.
Normandy returns a 3-year starter at Kicker/Punter in Neno Ilic who has been golden from as far at 50 yards on field goal attempts.
The captains are Dallas Ward, Elijah Gray, Austin Simmons, Caleb Doubrava, and Ethan Gold.
Normandy has high expectations, and will have a chance to challenge hopefully for a conference title for the first time since 2007.
The Invaders have a very experienced coaching staff as there are 5 former head coaches.
Head Coach Ian Kost has former head coaches, Rob Cyr, James Jackson, Dean Lasley, Shane Parker, and Bruce Saban on his staff, in addition veteran coach Nick Pacholski, and newcomer DeVon Slocum who was a standout defensive tackle from Baldwin Wallace.
The Invaders kickoff this Friday at home versus East Cleveland Shaw at 7pm.
