Girls Wrestling Season Preview
Updated on 11/26/2024

The Normandy High School girls wrestling team is poised for a historic season, boasting their largest roster ever with 30 dedicated athletes. Under the guidance of Head Coach Justin Halaska, and volunteer coaches James Toth, Tyler Sayre and Tommy Kennell, the Invaders are ready to make waves in the girls wrestling community.

The team is anchored by returning state qualifier Brooklyn Madal, a senior who has spent the offseason honing her skills at national tournaments and camps. Madal's experience and determination make her a formidable force on the mat. Alongside her is Brooke Yontosh, a returning state alternate who is eager to possibly write her name into the history books of Normandy High School and the OHSAA.

Upperclassmen Erta Beqiri, Juliana Campos and Tamrah Szucs, all with impressive track records, are poised to contribute significantly. Beqiri and Campos dedication to offseason training in Greco-Roman and Freestyle wrestling has elevated their skills. Szucs, who narrowly missed a state berth last year, is determined to reach new heights with her hard work ethic and constant growth mindset. Another familiar face that could make an impact on the program is Caddyson Edwards. Although she may have to sit part of the year due to an unforseen injury, once healthy she has the means to help both herself and the Invaders see success.

The Invaders' roster is also bolstered by a talented group of newcomers, including rising star Gabrielle Lopez. This promising freshman, with her strong foundation and relentless work ethic, is expected to make an immediate impact on the team. Another new face that will make an positive impact on the program is freshman Addison Geraldo. She has shown promise since she has started and has the means to make a real difference in the Invader program.

Also returning for your Invaders are veterans Delfina Castriote, Samantha Beilstein, Miyah Makoski, Peyton Peck, Amanda Mortenson and Isabella Bonelli. All of these girls now have a full year under their belt and are eager to use their experiences from last year to be more competitve this season.

With a strong blend of experienced veterans and promising newcomers, the Normandy Girls Wrestling program is aiming high. The team will also compete in the OHSAA State Dual Tournament, a testament to their collective talent and dedication last year. As they embark on this exciting season, the Invaders are eager to leave their mark on girls wrestling here in Northern, OH.
