Natalie Demarest Excels at OHSAA Figure Skating Championships

February 2026,When people talk about standout Invaders, the conversation doesn’t stay inside Parma City Schools for long. For Normandy High School’s Natalie Demarest, it might start with the two gold and two silver medals she claimed at the OHSAA Figure Skating Championships — but it quickly turns to her work in the classroom, her leadership on the ice, and even her show-stopping turn as Elphaba in a “Wicked” performance. Natalie isn’t just excelling in one arena; she’s redefining what it looks like to be a high honor student, dedicated athlete, and all-around leader. Natalie represents Normandy as a member of the Padua Figure Skating Team. At the OHSAA Championships, the team finished an impressive second out of 17 teams, and Natalie’s performance was at the heart of that success. The Invaders hit the mat for their final conference duals of the season last night, taking on Westlake and Bay. Normandy split the matchups, falling to Westlake but bouncing back with a win over Bay to finish conference duals at 5-2. Anthony Catlin, Alex Mastrobuono, and James Moore all went a perfect 2-0 on the night to lead the way.But the headline belongs to “Big Game” James Moore. Wins number 140 and 141 cemented him as the winningest wrestler in Normandy history. With postseason competition ahead, James stands alone at the top of the record books.  >

Jordan Connell Named Head Football CoachNormandy High School has announced the hiring of Jordan Connell as the new head coach of the Invaders men’s varsity football program. Connell will lead the Invaders as they prepare for their 2026 schedule. Connell, who was born and raised in Cleveland, is a 2014 graduate of Elyria High School, where he was an All-Ohio player and a team captain. Known throughout his career for leadership, high energy and relationship-building, he brings a background that includes experience at multiple levels of high school football and in a variety of offensive roles.After beginning his coaching career at the middle school level for two years, Connell moved to freshman football for another two seasons. He then joined the staff at Elyria Catholic, where he advanced from assistant coach and junior varsity head coach to pass game coordinator. Barreto steps into the role as the program prepares for its upcoming slate of matches, including early season contests against Berea-Midpark, Valley Forge and Rocky River. He will lead all aspects of the varsity program while working within the athletic department to support the overall development of girls soccer at Normandy.Barreto brings extensive playing experience to the Invaders’ sidelines, with 19 years in the game and 12 years of year-round training as a goalkeeper. His background includes two years of collegiate play at a Penn State University satellite campus, where he continued to refine his technical understanding of the sport. INVADERS WIN!! Normandy girls basketball knocked off Westlake 57–42 to improve to 14–6 on the season. Ziley Minich led the Invaders with 14 points, followed by Lindsay Meriwether with 13 and Sofia Szymczak with 10. Keilei Anderson added 8 points, Allison Pollock chipped in 7, while Christina Dell’Anno scored 3 and Gianna Carciopollo added 2 to round out the scoring.
