The Normandy Invaders hosted Westlake today at Ries Rink in a showdown for the conference championship. Westlake had defeated Normandy twice earlier in the season but with a win the Invaders would win the division and the number 1 seed in the Baron Cup.   The Invaders scored almost immediately when Jacob Nugent scored six seconds into the game on a pass from Wylan Hill. Westlake notched the equalizer two minutes later and the first perid ended 1-1.  Normandy had to kill off a minute and a half  when Westlake had a two man advantage. In the second period once again Normandy had to kill off a five minute major, the Invaders scored the only goal on a Derrik Pierce goal at the 12 minute mark. The Invaders went into the final period with a 2-1 advantage and defended their goal until Nugent and Pierce again scored with 3 and 2 minutes to play respectively. The game was won on some excellent team play and the outstanding goaltending of Junior Jason Nicholson who had 35 saves in net. The team finished the season 20-7-1 (8-2 in conference).

The hockey Invaders open up Baron Cup play at 4 pm Monday at Brook;yn Ice Rink.
