The Normandy Invader Swim Team competed today at the District Championships at Cleveland State University today.  Congratulations to Alex Cucu for his 2nd place finish in the 50 Free with a new school record of 21.31.  Alex also finished in 3rd place in the 100 Breast with a time of 55.64.  Alex earned automatic bids to the State Championship meet next Friday and Saturday in Canton OH.  This will be Alex’s fourth year in a row representing Normandy at the State Meet. The meet started with the 200 Medley Relay consisting of Blake Colwell, Alex Cucu, Alex Birsan, and Nate Dusek.  The Relay finished tied for 8th place with a season best time of 1:39.11.  Blake, Alex and Alex all set new PR’s for their Relay splits.  Blake was up next in the individual 200 IM finishing 9th with a new PR of 2:02.54.  After Alex’s 2nd place 50 Free finish, the 200 Freestyle Relay of Alex Cucu, Alex Birsan, Nate Dusek, and Blake Colwell came in 9th place with a season best time of 1:31.45.  Alex led off with a 21.36 just off his new school record and Alex Birsan and Blake set new PR splits in the Relay.  Blake brought the Relay home with a blazing 22.35 split.  Blake followed that swim up with a new PR and 10th place finish in the 100 Back with a time of 55.00.  Alex Birsan competed in the 100 Breast coming in 22nd place with a new PR of 1:05.98.  Alex Cucu finished 3rd in a showdown of some of the top Breaststrokers in the State.  The 400 Free Relay came in 16th place with a season best time of 3:39.42.  Setting new PR’s on the relay were Nazarri Tsvihun with a split of 53.98, Kyle Wells with a 54.28 and Eli Boose with a split of 55.14.  The day ended just as it started with a swim off in the 200 Medley relay.  Alex Cucu set a new PR with his 50 Breast split of 24.4 and Nate Dusek set a new PR for the final 50 split.  The Invaders came up short in the Swim off, but it was an amazing race. The Boys finished the day in 10th place out of 24 teams with 89 total points.  It was a great day of swimming against some very fast competition.  Congratulations to all of our Swimmers and Divers who competed at Districts this week and also to Alex as he gets ready for the State Meet next week.
