Normandy Girls Wrestling Team competed in the Brunswick “Blue Devils” Tournament. Although they had a few of their key starters out, the girls battled through adversity to finish in second place overall as a team. On the day they had nine girls compete. Of those nine, seven Invaders placed.

110# Samantha Beilstein- Fourth Place

115# Erta Beqiri- Second Place

120# Brooklyn Madal- CHAMPION

125# Delfina Castriote- Fourth Place

130# Caddyson Edwards- CHAMPION

145# Amanda Mortenson- Fourth Place

Coach Halaska recapped the day and stated that:

“He was extremely pleased to see the girls opening up on the mat and having fun. At the end of the day, wrestling is like any sport, It’s just a game. He expressed that when you’re having fun and trust your training, you will always wrestle at your best. He was super impressed with the performances of his three champions, Brooklyn Madal, Caddyson Edwards & Brooke Yontosh. He expressed that these girls work hard every day in practice and it’s a really cool experience to see their hard work paying off. Halaska hopes that they continue to push themselves in practice so more days like these are bound to come.”

The Normandy Girls will start their post season run at the prestigious OHSAA State Tournament this upcoming Sunday, February 25th, at their Pre-Regional Tourmanent hosted by Avon Lake High School. The girls must finish in the top four at their weight class to advance to the regional tournament the following week at Mentor HS.
