INVADERS NEWS ·
The Normandy Girls Wrestling Team brought 10 wrestlers to the Avon Lake Pre-Regional and are advancing 5 to the Mentor Regional Tournament this upcoming Sunday. On the day, the Invaders placed 4th out of 21 teams.
The girls listed below, alongside their non-listed teamates wrestled very well. When faced with adversity, many fell on their highest level of training and saw success. For those who did not advance, they will move forward and begin working towards their goals for next season.
Coach Halaska states that,
“I’m definitely excited to have 5 girls advance to the Regional Tournament. The girls wrestled very well and it was really awesome to get two tournament champions. There is nothing more fun in wrestling than having the oppurtunity to qualify for the State Tournament. Its also really cool that the girls will be competing once again at Mentor High School. It’s the same place that I had to qualify when I was in school to make the state tournament. Things really do come full circle! The expectation now is to qualify 5 to Columbus, so that’s what we will train for in the coming week of practice.”
Their Regional Qualifiers and the place they took today include:
105 Brooke Yontosh (CHAMPION)
120 Brooklyn Madal (CHAMPION)
130 Caddyson Edwards (2nd Place)
155 Isabella Bonelli (4th Place)
235 Tamrah Szucs (3rd Place)
They also had 1 wrestler take 5th Place (the alternate):
Congratulations Ladies and good luck at the Regional Tournament!
